Help Us Re-home your Black Russian Terrier with the BRTCA  Rescue/Placement Service

Thank you for seeking out our rescue program to re-home your dog into another loving home.  We understand that this is a difficult decision that you are making, and we will try our best to make this process and transition as sooth as possible for all parties involved.

Placing your dog through our, or any rescue program, is the most loving and humane act you can do for your dog in the event that you can no longer care for him or her.  It shows a high degree of responsibility on your part, instead of just “dumping” your dog off at the local shelter and creating painful stress and confusion for your dog.

Below is the process that you will need to follow if you feel that you can no longer keep your Black Russian Terrier. We ask that you not be discouraged by the information we will be asking of you.  Much of what we are asking is for informational purposes and will ensure the quickest, most successful placement possible for your dog.

We will not accept into our rescue program a Black Russian Terrier that has bitten anyone or that has exhibited any serious signs of aggression or excessive fearfulness (growling, refusing to look at people, baring of teeth, etc).  It is understood that an animal in a shelter may be terrified and may react inappropriately for several days.  In these cases, we will give the dog up to a week in order to assess the true personality.

We will not place a dog over a year old with an unknown background regarding children in a home with anyone under 12 years of age, nor use a temporary foster home with children under 12 years of age.

We request the right to have a member or BRTCA delegate visit your home to assess the situation and the dog.

Please fill out the attached questionnaire to begin the process of re-homing your dog.

A rescue volunteer will contact you to have an in-depth discussion with you regarding your dog and his/her temperament, the environment in which he/she currently lives, and all other relevant information that may be necessary in placing your dog.

If your dog is accepted for the Rescue program, you will be required to fill out a Rescue/Placement Services Release Contract.

If you are unable to bring your dog to a designated foster home, we will attempt to have a volunteer pick up your dog and relocate it to the foster home.

Once the questionnaire is received and you have been contacted, the process will begin to find your Black Russian Terrier a new, loving home.
